Tour leader Christine Mather is an art historian with over twenty years of experience traveling to Oaxaca.  Author, museum curator, and collector, she has lead many to learn the pleasures of this beautiful and bountiful region of Mexico.  She will be joined by her husband Davis whose enthusiasm for Mexican folk art is legendary. Limited group size of 9 participants allows for off-the-beaten-path view of Mexico using safe, comfortable, and reliable private transportation.  Our small group allows for an intimate view of Mexico including homes, villages, and regional markets. Our home in Oaxaca, Casa Panchita  -- charming rooms with private baths around a central, flower-filled courtyard -- is walking distance to many of Oaxaca’s favorite churches, museums and plazas.  Panchita is world renown for her regional cooking of Oaxaca.  Her extraordinary meals include fresh fruits and vegetables and complex regional dishes prepared and served with your health in mind. Oaxaca is often considered to be the folk art capital of Mexico.  We will focus our trip upon the arts of the Oaxaca valley, the history and prehistory of the region and the folk arts of the area. The emphasis of the trip is upon wonderful food, beautiful accommodations and full and memorable days.  Each day will be filled with the excitement of travel and learning with a small, focused group.
